Login and Authentication
RouteBot uses phone number verification for secure and convenient authentication. This guide explains how to log in to the app.
How Login Works
RouteBot uses a passwordless authentication system:
- You enter your phone number
- You receive a verification code via SMS
- You enter the code to confirm your identity
- You're logged in!
This method is:
- Secure - Only someone with access to your phone can log in
- Convenient - No passwords to remember
- Fast - Complete login in under a minute
Step-by-Step Login
Step 1: Enter Your Phone Number
- Open the RouteBot app
- You'll see the login screen with "Enter Your Phone Number"
- Select your country from the country picker at the top
- Enter your phone number without the country code
For Turkey:
- The number should start with 5
- Enter 10 digits: (5XX) XXX XX XX
- Example: (532) 123 45 67
For Other Countries:
- Enter your number as you would dial it locally
- The country code is automatically added
Note: The phone number you enter must be the one registered with your transportation provider.
Step 2: Request Verification Code
- Once your number is entered correctly, the Send button becomes active
- Tap Send to request your verification code
- Wait for the SMS to arrive
Step 3: Enter Verification Code
- A new screen appears with a countdown timer (120 seconds)
- You'll see a message confirming which number received the code
- Enter the 6-digit verification code you received via SMS
- The Send button activates when you've entered 6 digits
- Tap Send to verify
Step 4: Login Complete
Once verified:
- Your language preference is set based on your country
- You're logged in and taken to the main app
- Your session remains active until you log out
Wrong Phone Number?
If you entered the wrong phone number:
- On the verification code screen, tap Wrong phone number?
- You'll return to the phone number entry screen
- Enter the correct number and try again
Verification Code Timer
The verification code screen shows a countdown timer:
- You have 120 seconds (2 minutes) to enter the code
- If time expires, you'll be returned to the phone number entry
- You can request a new code by starting the login process again
Multiple Profiles
Some users may have multiple profiles linked to their phone number:
- Parents with multiple children in the system
- Employees who are also parents
- Users associated with multiple schools or companies
When you log in:
- The app automatically loads all your associated profiles
- You can view services for all linked students or services
- Settings can be configured for each profile separately
Language Selection
The app automatically sets your language based on your country:
- Turkey: Turkish is set as the default language
- Other Countries: English is set as the default language
You can change the language later in Settings.
Staying Logged In
Once logged in:
- Your session persists even if you close the app
- You don't need to log in again unless you explicitly log out
- The app automatically refreshes your session
Logging Out
To log out of the app:
- Go to the Settings tab
- Scroll down and tap Log out
- Confirm when prompted with "Do you want to logout?"
- You'll be returned to the login screen
Troubleshooting Login
"Service is not yet available in your country"
Your selected country may not be supported yet. Contact your transportation provider to verify your registration details.
Not receiving the SMS code
- Check your phone has signal
- Wait a minute; SMS can sometimes be delayed
- Check that spam filters aren't blocking the message
- Verify the phone number is correct
- Try requesting a new code
Code expired before entering
- The code is valid for 2 minutes
- If it expires, simply restart the login process
- Enter the code promptly when it arrives
"Number not found" or login fails
- Verify you're using the phone number registered with your transportation provider
- Contact your transportation provider to confirm your registration
- Make sure you selected the correct country code
Can't tap the Send button
- Ensure you've entered a valid phone number
- Check that the number format is correct for your country
- The button activates only when the number is valid
